New Underground Station In Kiev

Kiev (Ukraine) is among the top 10 European capitals having the longest underground lines. The Vystavochniy centre is a new station of the Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska line in Kiev metro which is still under construction.

According to the State Construction Program, the station had to be ready by 2008. The time was up. Nevertheless, its active reconstruction started in 2010 with settlement of 2 building grounds used for assembly of tunnel shields. Let’s look through the technical plant of underground development. The Vystavochniy centre station connects 2 lines. Acting stations are marked with blue, reconstructed areas with finished shield chambers are marked with red. The yellow color is used to denote the areas that will be launched by the end of 2011. White parts define perspective stations. The head of the tunneling shield  “Victoria” is seen in the shield chamber. The initial part of its tail contains a transportation line for mine tracking. The tail. This area is processed with the help of the non-mechanized shield. The loading machine delivers lining blocks. The tail of the non-mechanized shield. Trench of the Vystavochniy centre station. The first shield was put into operation 4 months ago. Only 7 months are left now till the planned launch of the station. It’s planned to launch the trailing switch. In this case trains will come with the interval of 90 sec as complete freeing of the switch will be required first. 60% of the first line is done and just 2-3 months are needed to accomplish the necessary works. As soon as the tunnel is constructed concrete placement will be started. The second tunneling shield “Victoria” can’t boast of considerable labor success as just a small part of the works has been done. Fortunately, there are less lines and communications on its way that’s why there is a hope that the construction will be over in time. The third and non-mechanized shield on the 2nd line demonstrates good results having passed 100 meters out of the planned 300 meters. Southern part of the station. Location: Kiev, Ukraine
