I am a bit lost here – we are One Billion plus in population - One sixth of the world population - and we fail to see a leader within this population and still need RAHUL GANDHI to be our PRIME MINISTER ! Come on, give me a break!!!
As told before, I am not for or against any political parties and I don't even follow their movements – but what I suggest is that India is a fast developing nation and we have very strong rivals also growing up along with us – China! We need a government with top scholars and economists to run this country not the traditional family politicians – get away with them and give the nation a new mind set.
Like the first Ford Model-T's advertisement (you can choose any color you like, as long as it is black) was the condition in India till Rajiv Gandhi – you can choose any car you like, as long as it is Ambassador! If you look back, India had its first break through from it bondage only when Narashima Rao and Manmohan Singh came into power – from that year onwards it was a new India. May be I am wrong at certain points – but these are my personal observations and I am sure there are others who are more informed than me, reading these columns. (I am ready to accept correction!). We need to do away from these present politicians and get educated economists and scientists to the forefront to steer India to higher plains. Again it is my personal observation – Manmohan Singh did a lot of reformations to India, but in the long run, thousands of citizens tantalized him with attractive terms, and naturally, like any other humans, he fell for it!!
Like the American Constitution, the Indian President and Prime Minister posts should be given a maximum period of say, 5 years in the office so that before the most clean leader grows roots into corruption, will be out of the office!
India is my Country……….
Did you read what was written below his photo on the mail transmitted by Venkat, he was the lowest depositor with 2.5 millions where as others had 2000 odd millions..don't jump after some idiots write some nonsense in this forum..try to analyse it first...More over I already wrote to Venkat about source of Rajiv Gandhi's income. He inherited the wealth from his fore fathers..and not through corruption of the Kalmadi /DMK/Ramdevs and Babas. Do any of the Indian politician have the guts to declare his income? Once Nehru himself asked the British to sell India to him, he had that much wealth. Nehru family members died for India. There is nothing wrong with Rahul becoming the leader of India than all culprits of today's politics who are only debating to become number one in corruption.

Rahul the next" src="http://l1.yimg.com/t/images/rahul_1312_60.jpg">
New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) As many as 46 percent of people believe that Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will make a better prime minister than incumbent Manmohan Singh, according to a national survey.
According to a 'Mood of the Nation' poll conducted by the news website LensOnNews.com, nearly two-thirds (61 percent) of voters want a change of government in New Delhi.
Only half that number (34 percent) still back the Manmohan Singh-led government to continue in office, it said.
'Rahul Gandhi is clearly preferred over Manmohan Singh for the position of prime minister,' it said.
'As many as 46 percent believe that Rahul Gandhi would make a better prime minister while only 34 percent think Manmohan Singh should continue.'
The LensPoll was carried out among a representative sample of about 3,800 voters across India, in 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in 14 states.
The poll was conducted between June 12 and 16. The findings carry a margin of error of four percent.
The survey, however, said that between Rahul Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi, 53 percent opted for the chief minister of Gujarat.
The survey said that disenchantment against the Congress-led central government was significantly higher in urban areas, among the college educated and upper castes.
'It is ironical that these are the very same sections that rooted heavily for the Congress in 2009. Under the present regime, the Congress seems to have lost the goodwill of the informed public.'
The choice of Rahul Gandhi as prime minister received a much higher rating among Muslims, women, farmers and labourers -- precisely the sections the Congress banks on heavily for votes.
Gandhi, who turned 41 Sunday, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in 2009. A section of Congress leaders too has stepped up calls that he should become prime minister.
