Dear Mr Gangadharan Nair,
I request you to kindly read once again and understand fully the contents of my previous e-mail on the subject. I am a Military ex-serviceman living on a meagre pension.
I am one who had to visit the RTO office four times to get a driving licence because I refused to pay bribe, though I was in possession of a valid military driving licence.
Secondly, I was instrumental in cancelling two corrupt contracts/Tenders of two different PSUs, by Orders from the Honourable High Court of Kerala, filing Public Interest Litigations.
Views expressed in my earlier email, are from my knowledge of affairs in different states of the country. To sum up:-
I am not against the new Lokpal Bill or any law to prevent corruption. The success of those lies in strict implementation of those laws with integrity. This will not happen in the current state of affairs and things will continue to happen as it is. Why?? Because the culprits are always clever to find loopholes, twist facts to escape the law.
Therefore, I had opined that individual citizen (especially the educated) should change.
Do not give bribe.
Report corruption when one comes to know. (If at all one cannot fight against it )
Use the power of voting judiciously.
If , even, a small % of citizens do the above it will make a big difference. It is not difficult for anyone. Quoting Mahatmaji " It is very difficult to change the world but very easy to change oneself."
Quoting once again " In democracy people will get a governance that they deserve". Hence, each citizen has a big responsibility.
So, can at least some of us in the group make a pledge today???
Regards,
KTA

Dear Mr. Gangadharan, cant you realize what Mr. Austin Clement is saying are the facts. We have to change ourselves "FIRST AND FOREMOST" IF we need to change the condition of our beloved home land. Anna Hazare is trying to do a wonderful job, let us all support and pray for his success. He is the only Gandhian we can look up to. He was doing a good job until Baba Ramdev came and made a fool of himself and in the process weakened Anna Hazare's position. Now let's not argue about this, but rather stand together and fight with ONE VOICE for the eradication of corruption. You should not let your mind dictate to you always, you should also listen to the voice of your heart, that's where the truth really lies. I'm sure you understand what I mean.
Best regards
Joseph

I think Mr. Austin Clement is scared of being branded as another koteeswaran and being sujected to harrassement as they have done to Baba Ramdev. With the same culprit kodeeswaran our Govt. super ministers of Finance, Home & Telecom has negotiated 2days back. He was given a red carpet reception at the airport by not less than 4 cabinet ministers of important portfolios and given the best of treatment one can expect from any government. Within 2 days he was de clare d a culprit and people like Mr. Austin Clement start supporting without any rhyme & reasoning. Very tragic state of affair.
Gangadharan Nair.

Dear Mr Kiran,
You seem to be very concerned about the poor response from the group on Lokpal Bill. Please note that , I am sure, everyone in the group wants to root out corruption. But they are also aware that:-
India is a democratic country ( and is the largest in the world).
Even if , the Lokpal bill is accepted in the form demanded by Anna Hazare , it has to go through the parliament and passed by it.
After passing it ,a number of laws will have to be enacted and amended. Only then ,it can be brought into force. This is a long and time-taking process .Because it has to go thru a democratic system and procedures.
Even if Hazare dies of fasting, this cannot be achieved. Mr. Hazares intentions are good to only a point of creating awareness amongst people. But the opposition parties are taking undue advantage of this, and destabilise the Govnmt who are taking action against the current culprit-polititians. Another 'Koteeswaran' Swami is trying to gain undue popularity, which is counter productive to the movement of Anna Hazare.
A number of laws are already in existence against corruption . But do you think all past corrupt officials and ministers have been dealt with by these laws? This will happen to a New Lokpal bill also, if made in a hurry.
Therefore, implementation and enforcement of law is another big issue.
Answer lies in improving the quality of democracy ( if we want democracy to continue.). That is by using judicious use of voting power. Are we still not electing known culprits and criminals as MPs and MLAs. The society has to value honesty and integrity as prime virtues. When people are ready to bribe to get things done for themselves, corruption and ill gotten money will thrive.
In brief , in Democracy people will get a government that they deserve.
It should start from each individual that one stop bribing, discourage every one else from bribing. Fight against it when one experiences it. At the least be bold and report to Vigilance / anti corruption cells.
There are still honest officials and politians in the System, hence there is hope for Democracy. You do your bit. Everything else will follow.
Best regards, KTA
